: June 25, 2012 12:33 pm s Leave your thoughts

Congratulations to everyone on taking part in this years McKeever cup. Before getting onto the final a quick mention to the teams that took part:

Our lady and st edwards with Captain George Byrnes being joint top goal scorer; to St. Pats, St. Teresa and St. Margaret’s for playing some good football. Then to Jermaine’s old school Blessed Robert with another joint top scorer for the day kieran ellis; and finally, Rio Murray at St. Augustine’s again top scorer who looked from the video’s like a contender for player of the tournament! (Rio pictured below with consultant Ryan Miller).

Finally onto the top two teams in a closely fought final match. Our Lady’s vs St Mary’s hyson green, it took Elliot saunders-johnson who eventually won the Aquinas boot for the player of the tournament to score the winning goal and lift the McKeever cup for the 2nd time in 3 years. Unlucky to Our Lady with Devonte Evans their stand out man of the tournament.

Thank you to Mr McKeever for once again inviting us to attend the day, Aquinas are very proud of the the links with the Trinity school and will look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Aquinas Foundation Launch April 2012

: June 25, 2012 12:21 pm s Leave your thoughts

The Launch of the Aquinas Foundation took place in April 2012 at the East Midlands Conference centre Nottingham. The Foundation has followed on from the great work already seen in Nottinghamshire schools by Aquinas Education.

The Aquinas Foundation was set up by Aquinas Education owners, Craig Anderson and Jermaine Jenas to help tackle truancy and gang culture in Nottinghamshire schools. Being born and bred in Nottingham, the two friends wanted to encourage young people to make the right choices in life and provide role models to help them achieve their goals.

The night was attended by over 450 guests with the star attraction being England and Team GB football manager Stuart Pearce giving the after dinner speech and taking questions from the audience. To follow Stuarts candid insight into all things football, the Aquinas Foundation held a charity auction in which guests could bid to win an array of prizes including a signed David Beckham shirt, a guitar signed by Cheryl Cole, Gareth Bale’s signed football boots, a holiday apartment in Florida for 14 nights amongst many other great prizes. The rarity of the prizes really got the guests buzzing and some of the items were sold for big bucks.

The Queen visits Nottingham

Today was an extra special day at Aquinas Towers, with The Queen swinging by to give us a wave.

We were also lucky enough to see the lovely William and Kate drive by and also give a quick wave.
